The VCE405 connectivity engine provides a flexible off-the-shelf method for quickly developing and deploying cost-conscious high-performance systems. The low power consumption of the powerful IBM PowerPC 405GP/405GPr and the ALMA2e PCI/VME bridge make the VCE405 well-suited for critical environments such as medical or aerospace applications.
Because of the board’s low power consumption, it does not require massive heat sinks. This makes the VCE405 ideal for applications such as flight control systems on helicopters, where there is a weight restriction for rugged electronic components. Combine the board's high-performance electronics with its low power consumption and rugged design, and you have what it takes to perform sensor and data computations in harsh environments encountered in military and aerospace applications.
The features of the VCE405 include:
• Low power consumption (6.5W) PPC 405GP @ 266 MHz or PPC 405GPr @ 400 MHz
• 64 or 128 MB SDRAM, 8 MB Flash, CompactFlash socket
• 2 asynchronous EIA-232 serial lines
• 4 synchronous/asynchronous EIA-232/422/485 serial lines
• 10/100BASE-T Ethernet connectivity; IIC port
• Two PMC slots
• Supports VxWorks, LynxOS 4.0, and Linux 2.4
• Available in all ruggedization levels
