This ATM PCI mezzanine Network Interface Card (NIC) provides compliance with Wide Area Network (WAN) standards for Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network solutions. The OC-3 PMC ATM NIC is designed to help meet the expanding demand for third generation (3G) wireless and broadband internet applications.
Thales Computers' ATM software stacks support the most popular TCP/IP protocols, as well as standard raw ATM access, to meet the needs for 3G wireless and broadband Internet access applications. ATM is the communications standard for 3G networks, which provide multimedia access to mobile phones. In addition, ATM protocols are increasingly employed in real-time aerospace and defense applications.
The features of the OC-3 PMC ATM
NIC include:
- Meets the ITU-T G.825 ATM-WAN recommendation for jitter.
- Meets the standard for ITU-T G.957 S-1. short-haul single-mode fibre.
- Several interfaces available, including single-mode fibre, multimode
fibre, software-configurable E3 or DS3 on coaxial cable, or SONET/SDH
STS3c/STM1 155 Mbps on UTP5 with an onboard RJ-45 connector.
- Includes ATM protocol software stack delivered as a binary driver or in
source code with a royalty buy-out license.
- Supports VxWorks, LynxOS, Sun Solaris, and Linux.
