Maximum data transfer rates are obtained when accessing the FLASH using long word block reads. In this mode, the FLASH supports a maximum of 256 bytes/block. The FLASH supports up to 17 MB/s transfer rates and provides for onboard erase/write cycles.

The Flash memory array is comprised of an integral number of 64K x 32 bit blocks. A minimum of 100,000 erase/write opera-tions is possible for each of these blocks. Add-on software techniques (wear-leveling and graceful block retirement algorithms) can extend the useful lifetime of the board, increasing memory operation to a maximum of 1 million erase/write cycles.
