Thales Computers' 3/4ATR-WA-M28 accommodates 6U VME64x boards, as well as any IEEE1101-compliant convection-cooled board that employs a backplane with P0 connectors. The enclosure has been optimized for use with Thales Computers’ IEEE1101.10-compliant 6U extended temperature (WA) and convection-cooled Ruggedizer™ (RA) boards, which feature front-panel connectors and ejector handles.

The convection-cooled enclosure meets RTCA/DO-160D and MIL-STD-810 requirements for harsh environment and airborne use, and it is qualified for operating temperatures of -45°C to +75°C (-49°F to 167°F). The 3/4ATR-WA-M28 employs conductive interior surfaces using flat gasketing methods to reduce EMC/EMI in accordance with MIL-STD-461.

The 3/4ATR-WA-M28 features a 28 VDC power supply, a 300W input, and four outputs (5 V, 3.3 V, +/- 12 V). The enclosure provides two I/O connectors and a power connector, all of which are compliant with MIL-C-38999. Adequate space is provided between the top cover and front panel for I/O wiring from the front-panel connectors to the P2/P0 backplane connectors and/or front panels of installed boards.

The enclosure is cooled by a single fan that distributes a turbulent airflow to all installed boards; the filter unit is accessible via the front panel. The 3/4ATR-WA-M28 conforms to the standard ARINC404 size profile for tall boxes; the front-panel connector area has been maximized by positioning ARINC600 hold-downs to ARINC404.
